2011 Festival Info

Clinician: John Pfeiffer, President of the AGEHR and Director of the Music City Bronze
Dates: April 1-2, 2011
Fee: $150 per choir, or $25 for individual ringers
Location: Grace Lutheran Church, 9076 Middlebrook Pike, Knoxville, TN (map)

What to Expect

You will be joining with choirs from all over the Knoxville area and beyond to make music together! It’s great if you can bring your whole handbell choir, but if you can only get a few ringers together, that’s okay, too. (In massed ringing, someone is likely doubling or tripling your part already). “Orphan” ringers are always welcome, and we can give you a spot in a handbell choir in advance so that you can be prepared when you arrive. We strive to make our festivals a positive experience for both the advanced ringer and the beginner. Our clinician will lead rehearsals and direct us in a final concert with brass and percussion. It’s a wonderful way to get re-energized and focused on this wonderful musical art.

For over 25 years, Lloyd Larson has been an active composer and arranger for several major publishing companies of church music. His publications include over 1,000 published works including choral octavos, numerous Christmas and Easter cantatas, keyboard collections, vocal solo and duet collections, instrumental solo and ensemble publications, orchestrations, and handbell settings. It is his work in the local church, though, which continues to be the catalyst for much of his writing. He is an active participant in his own local church where he currently directs the adult choir in addition to regularly being involved in worship planning and leadership.
