Friday, March 19:

12:00-3:00 pm – Setup (changed from 12-2)
3:00-4:00 pm – Solo Handbell Ringing Demonstration and Training (changed from 2-4)
4:00-5:00 pm – Music Reading Session
5:00-7:00 pm – Late Setup / Dinner (on your own)
7:00-9:00 pm – Massed Ringing Rehearsal #1

Saturday, March 20:

8:30-9:00 am – Coffee/Donuts (provided)
9:00-10:30 am – Massed Ringing Rehearsal #2
10:30-10:45 am – Break
10:45-11:45 am – Rehearsal for Optional Music
11:45-12:30 pm – Lunch (reservations required for $6.50 boxed lunch – deadline is March 11)

Christine will be presenting a solo concert at Fountain City United Methodist Church on Sunday, March 21 at 3:00 pm. You will not want to miss this! Tickets are $10, and can be purchased at the festival or at the door.

2009 Festival Clinician: Lloyd Larson

For over 25 years, Lloyd Larson has been an active composer and arranger for several major publishing companies of church music. His publications include over 1,000 published works including choral octavos, numerous Christmas and Easter cantatas, keyboard collections, vocal solo and duet collections, instrumental solo and ensemble publications, orchestrations, and handbell settings. It is his work in the local church, though, which continues to be the catalyst for much of his writing. He is an active participant in his own local church where he currently directs the adult choir in addition to regularly being involved in worship planning and leadership. He is married to his college sweetheart, Marci. They have three children (two of whom are married) and one granddaughter.

2008 Festival Date and Clinician

The 2008 Knox Area Handbell Festival will be held on April 11-12 at Second Presbyterian Church. Returning to the festival as our clinician will be Beth Watson, past AGEHR president and Director of Music at Northwest Hills United Methodist Church in Austin, TX.

(from the AGEHR website):

Beth Watson is Director of Music Ministries at Northwest Hills United Methodist Church, Austin, Texas, where she oversees a program consisting of six choirs. Beth has been attending AGEHR activities since 1965 (as a member of a youth handbell choir in West Virginia) and has been conducting handbell choirs since 1968. She has served as Secretary/Treasurer of Area IX, and as Music Chairman for AGEHR, Inc. She is active as a conductor and clinician for seminars, festivals, workshops, and denominational worship and music conferences. She was also one of the conductors representing the United States at the International Handbell Symposium in Toronto, Canada, in the summer of 2004. Beth has one arrangement published by AGEHR music entitled “Gypsy Song” from Carmen by Georges Bizet. She is also the author of a chapter in the AGEHR publication Page One, for beginning directors. Beth was a charter member and the assistant conductor of the Dallas Handbell Ensemble and the was the original conductor of the Concert Bells of Fort Worth. In addition to her term as President of the American Guild of English Handbell Ringers, Beth also served as President of the Greater Dallas Handbell Association.
