Guest Clinician: Dr. Larry Smith
Carillon’s founder and director is Larry D. Smith, lyric-baritone and Professor of Music, who is in his thirteenth year as voice teacher and ensemble director at the University of Southern Mississippi. He is also Director of Music at the First Presbyterian Church of Hattiesburg. Smith earned the bachelors and master’s degrees from the University of Mississippi and the Doctor of Musical Arts from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. An active member of MENC, ACDA, NATS, and the American Guild of English Handbell Ringers, Smith serves as an adjudicator and clinician throughout the southeastern United States. He is past chairman of the Mississippi Chapter of AGEHR. He also performs as a vocal soloist in recital and oratorio.
